National Traditional Chinese Medicine Inheritors Study Class Visits Company for Investigation and Learning

On October 23, a group from the National Traditional Chinese Medicine Inheritors Training Class arrived at the company to study Coptis from Shizhu. Coptis from Shizhu, also known as Weilian, Jizhua Lian, and Nanan Lian, has the medicinal effects of clearing heat, eliminating dampness, draining fire, and detoxifying. It is an important traditional Chinese medicine and ethnic medicine, classified as a superior product among the 120 types of Chinese medicinal materials by Li Shizhen.In 1954, Coptis from Shizhu was officially listed as a "national medicine," implementing unified purchasing and sales.In 1959, the Journal of Sichuan Medical College stated: "The cultivated varieties of Coptis from Shizhu are excellent, with production ranking first in the country." In 1985, Coptis from Shizhu was included in the "Dictionary of Chinese Local Specialties."
Accompanied by the company's general manager, Peng Ping'an, the members of the training class visited the company's special culture exhibition hall to learn about the company's Coptis products and Culture, as well as the processes of selection, planting, maintenance, harvesting, and processing of Coptis. The series of health products developed by the company, including Coptis toothpaste, Coptis antibacterial liquid, and Coptis soap, which utilize the antibacterial and antiviral properties of Coptis and its efficacy in treating skin diseases, sparked strong interest among the trainees, who eagerly examined the products and praised them endlessly.
Subsequently, the trainees arrived at the Coptis breeding base (Coptis germplasm resource nursery) to conduct in-depth studies on the planting process, growth habits, and planting environment of Coptis. Under the introduction of senior technician Yuan Jinhai, it was explained that Coptis prefers cool and moist conditions, avoids high temperatures, thrives in fertile soil but does not tolerate barren conditions, and the vegetation conditions can fully meet the special needs of Coptis production for "shelter and shade." Therefore, the Coptis produced in this area is of excellent quality, known as "national medicine" and "authentic Coptis," and generally grows in high-altitude areas between 1200and 1800meters. The altitude of this base is approximately 1500 meters, making the environment very suitable for Coptis breeding work.
